Staffing Company Liable for Overtime as “Joint Employer”

Courtesy of NAPS Legal Update - In Beltre v. Lititz Healthcare Staffing Solutions LLC, a federal court decision by the Southern District of New York, the Court turned down a staffing company’s motion to dismiss a claim by its assigned employees that they were not paid overtime, as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Noncompete Employment Contracts measure clears Georgia House

A proposed amendment to the state constitution aimed at noncompete clauses in employment contracts easily cleared the Georgia House Monday.

Lawmakers voted 158-12, well above the two-thirds threshold needed to pass constitutional amendments, to send the measure to the state Senate and potentially to Georgia voters this November.
